About Katie
Approach to Counseling
Embracing a collaborative philosophy, I firmly believe that you are the architect of your own narrative and the authority on your life's journey. My role is to guide you through challenges, serving as a supportive presence along the way. While I bring a direct and, when necessary, challenging approach, I always meet you at your current point. Open to feedback and fostering transparent communication, my collaborative approach ensures we navigate your path together, discussing progress, expectations, and outcomes.
Background and Expertise
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida, my academic journey began in Ohio, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Urbana University. Building upon this foundation, I pursued a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Dayton. With a diverse clinical background, I've worked extensively with individuals, families, and couples. My counseling style integrates evidence-based interventions, drawing from methodologies such as Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. I am also trained in Gottman Level 1 (couples-focused) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused CBT for children and families).
A glimpse into my world:
Originating from Ohio (go Buckeyes!), I bring a unique blend of experiences to my counseling practice. My collegiate years included playing soccer for all four years, followed by a season of semi-professional soccer post-graduation. Outside the counseling room, I find joy in running and exercising, losing myself in the pages of a good book, and most importantly, cherishing moments spent with my family.
